Dr Nicholas Buchdahl
Dr Nicholas Buchdahl is a Reader in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Adelaide, where he is currently the head of the Pure Mathematics Discipline. Before coming to Adelaide, he held teaching positions in the United States and research-only positions in France, Germany and the US including at the prestigious Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton and IHES in Paris.
Dr Buchdahl was award his D.Phil from the University of Oxford in 1983. He has an international reputation for his research, which is focused on problems in geometric analysis mainly arising from mathematical physics, often involving the techniques required for solving non-linear systems of partial differential equations.
In 2005 Dr Buchdahl was appointed as the Director of the Centre for the Quantification and Management of Risk at the University of Adelaide
