FirstGEN

The University of Adelaide’s FirstGEN program delivers free support and interactive workshops to Year 12 students. Tailored to the student needs, the program supports students’ through their transition to tertiary education.

FirstGEN is available to Year 12 students from participating FirstGEN partner schools. Students will develop their understanding of the SATAC process, learn essential university knowledge, and prepare for life after high school.

With 1:1 support integrated throughout the program, FirstGEN will broaden students’ awareness, understanding and confidence as they take the next step in their education journey.

Program overview

Session  
1 - Introduction and pathways Detailing why the FirstGEN program is offered, how students benefit, exploring student interest areas and discussing in detail alternate entry pathways.
2 - Uni life Discovering what the university experience is like by detailing class types, what your schedule may look like, how much time you spend at university and what subjects you take.
3 - Common concerns and support services Discussing some common concerns first year students may have, and the support that is available.
4 - SATAC application Assisting students with their SATAC applications.
